Don't outsource your eyes

I can see something with my own eyes, open my phone, and I'm told it's something else.

After enough repetition, I question my own judgment.

Here are the three main ways I see my realities get distorted:

1) Complex situations become moral binaries.

2) Algorithms reward views, which reward confidence, not accuracy. The boldest take wins.

3) Our engagement with viewpoints amplifies agreement clusters, and attempts at conversation result in online dogpiling. If 10,000 people repeat it, it starts to feel true. If 1000 people downvote you and say you are a terrible person, it also feels true.

If I'm not careful, taking breaks from the constant input, I feel busy and start outsourcing my perception to the highest bidder.
